Welcome

For over forty five years, the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Miami School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Medical Center has provided exemplary patient care, consultation and treatment to patients with a variety of diseases of the ears, nose, throat and neck.

With programs in head and neck tumor surgery, otology-neurotology, laryngology and voice disorders, disorders of the nose and paranasal sinuses, pediatric problems and facial reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, the department is well-known for its wide range of expert clinical services.

The Department of Otolaryngology is also home to the University of Miami Ear Institute, one of the busiest centers of its kind in the United States, thanks, in part, to its Cochlear Implant Center. This premier center for clinical care and research on cochlear implants helps treat a variety of hearing, balance and communication disorders.

The Ear Institute also houses the Center for Advanced Treatment of Meniere's Disease and Balance Disorders, the Clinical Audiology Center and the Hearing Aid Center.

Most departmental activities take place in one of two major centers on the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center campus. The Head and Neck Surgery Division is in the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics. Other departmental programs are located in the University of Miami Ear Institute and the Rosenstiel Medical Sciences Building. In-patients are admitted to Jackson Memorial Hospital, Anne Bates Leach Eye Hospital, the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics, Miami Veteran's Administration Medical Center, and the University of Miami Hospital all of which are located on the 67 acre medical campus.
